Someone once said. ‘God will not tell you the person you should marry’. She says it is because he has given us the wisdom to choose right from wrong. But you do not receive directions to locations you do not enquire about, that was the response she deserved but it was fruitless arguing as she was so sure he was not needed in deciding who to marry.
When discussions like this come up, people tend to tag it as being too spiritual but we ask God for help for every other thing, even jobs and material things, why not who to marry. People want to know how to choose a life partner according to the bible or Quran.

Sometimes, you don’t just get to hear a voice saying ‘marry him’, ‘don’t marry him’. It could be discernment to know things you ignored about this person earlier on or the patience to or not to make certain decisions.
Seeking the face of God on how to choose a life partner is one that includes prayers and patience.
What happens when you do not hear him say anything to you, do you go on to make a decision or just wait?
Manny was at the verge of choosing a partner when other guys of more sauce came pestering her. Guys who were better, in her definition of ‘better’ though. In this case, what would you advise? When confusion sets in, what would you say can be done?
Praying to God can give you the patience to wait, look clearly before leaping.
In clear terms, how to seek the face of God when seeking a life partner is to pray, wait and be patient.
Also, you cannot seek the face of God and keep doing things that will render your efforts futile. Such actions could be having pre-marital sex with the person who may not even be the one for you.
This could put you in the family’s way and change the direction of your life. You also cannot be exhibiting a nasty attitude that could send off your potential future partner.
What do you do? This is the period where you find and work on yourself with the help of the holy spirit. It gives you a clearer picture of who you should be with and may place you in a position to meet them.
It also prepares you for the journey ahead. There is no manual to a relationship and subsequent marriage. You do not stop seeking the face of God and making efforts to make things work.
Looks too simple to work out right? With societal pressure, praying, waiting and being patient would take a lot of effort, but really, it is all you need!
