The first few weeks of any new relationship are always the most enjoyable. It’s known as the “honeymoon face.” The best parts were the texting, even when we were alone in the house, the occasional outings, and secret kisses in public places.
All of the random gifts and never-ending phone calls were incredible. Emeka had changed for the better, and we couldn’t deny it.
Our first fight occurred after 200 level first semester break.
It all started with the fact that we’d been dating for a while but hadn’t had any sex. He couldn’t continue the relationship unless we introduced sex. My friend Emeka completely ignored me for two weeks because I refused to have sex with him and went on to report me to our other friends.
Yemi was my best friend at the time, and she was also a very good friend of his too.
After a series of back-and-forth attempts to reunite us, Yemi realized I didn’t want to lose him because I had fallen in love with him. She told me that the only way to save my relationship with Emeka was to give him what he craved: sex. Furthermore, it’s not like I’m a virgin or anything, so I have nothing to lose.
A mutual friend of ours was having a birthday party which we were both invited to, so I told myself that I was going to let him have his way with me. After all, he’d been waiting for a long time.
At the time, I truly believed I was doing the right thing for myself and the man I loved. Anyway, before the party ended, we got a room because he couldn’t wait to bury himself inside of me.
The sex was intense, he was incredible, and he even stated that it was well worth the wait. Only to hear from Yemi a few days later, saying that the waiting was a waste of his time and that the sex was just there. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t hurt, but I chose to ignore it and tell myself Yemi was probably lying to get at me.
