Sometimes it seems like most designers are all out and in business for the slim ladies. Now, girls, we have designers who only want to deal in plus-size fashion.

When you hear ‘thicker body’, ‘O por’, this is like the main Nigerian slang for big, beautiful and bold ladies. Sorry, you do not have a share here if you have refused to own and rock your beautiful body.

Are you sad that your tummy betrays you in that tight dress, or maybe your arm or thighs? Honestly, even slim ladies have fashion frustrations, you hear some ladies complain they would have looked better in a particular outfit if they were a little bit on the big side.

It all boils down to wearing what flatters and accentuates your body.

1. The first thing is to strike a balance between fitted, too tight and baggy clothes. Oversized clothing will make you look bigger. If you are to wear baggy trousers at least pair them up with a fitted top.

2. Remember for a trimmer look, a black outfit does the trick, though black will not make you look trim if it does not fit properly. For a ‘zero love for black woman,’ any other colour that matches your skin tone works fine but remember fitting matters.

3. Asymmetrical stripes on clothes will make you look smaller, unlike the horizontal ones. You can opt for horizontal stripes for your lower body to accentuate your hips.

4. Wrap dresses always look good. The V-neck is a complimentary style for women who are heavier at the top. Your decision to go short or maxi will depend on comfortability and if you want to show off your legs or not.

5. An A-line skirt is a flattering outfit when paired with a well tucked-in top or shirt if you are big at the bottom. This is not to say you cannot wear a pencil skirt. However, you should favour a high waist pencil skirt.

6. A body shaper will always come in handy to keep away the bumps and lumps. Body shapers do not reduce your size, they only highlight your curves.

7. What is a beautiful outfit without the appropriate shoe and bag to go with it?

Who says you cannot wear trendy stuff? You never really know the fit until you try it. Being plus size does not mean you cannot be daring. Cheers to more adventure!
