Your butt shape is perfect, just the way it is. Your butts are part of what gives your body that uniqueness and beauty. Just like boobs or other body parts, no two butts are exactly alike.
Note, before we discuss further, let’s emphatically make it clear and remind ourselves that nobody gets to define, judge or choose what to do with any part of your body, but you.
All bodies are attractive and here at pickasbog, we do not promote body shaming or living a toxic and unhappy lifestyle to achieve a specific physical appearance.
Several opinions have been aired by both male and female about the normal size of butts for an average lady, some prefer the bigger one, while other is just fine with moderate ones.
Some would even come and tell you they prefer the ones with just nice curves. A lot of noise, right? Humans needs are unsatiable, if you know this, you won’t be in a haste to judge your body shape based on societal validations.
There also isn’t an “average” or “typical” butt shape, though plastic surgeons have categorized butts into a few broad shape categories as part of their findings.
These categories are determined by general ratios between your waist, hips, and thighs. Knowing your butt type would help in terms of picking jeans or underwear.
According to Dr Olga Bachilo, a plastic surgeon in Houston, Texas, who has performed butt lifts, butt implants, and butt enhancements. He said, “The main buttock shapes are square, round, heart, and inverted V shape,”
Your booty shape is determined by three key factors; the placement of your hip and pelvis bones, the size of your muscles, and the way those muscles attach to your thigh bone
Types of Butt
1. Round, bubble, or O-shaped

This butt shape is a result of full hips and fat distribution around the butt cheeks, including the upper parts. These features create a curvy, rounded butt look from behind.
When picking underwear, a round butt requires additional fabric in the back for full coverage otherwise, the crotch of your underwear will shift backwards, which can lower the front waistband and trigger a frontal wedgie which is not cool.
Tangas and thongs should, High-rise, bootcut denim jeans with no hand sanding or distressing will look great on you. This is what stars like Kim Kardashian, Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez have.
2. Square or H-shaped

If the shape from your hip bone to your outer thigh is more or less a straight line, you have a square or H-shaped butt.
square butt is when the line between your hip bone and outer thigh runs perpendicular to the ground. It’s common with athletic or rectangle bodies. Some people with this shape have prominent, high hip bones, “hip dips,” or a layer of fat on their flanks.
If this is your butt shape, you should probably avoid underwear that rides up high and opt instead for boy shorts, bikinis, or thongs. You’ll probably want to skip low-rise jeans, too, because higher-waisted pants might be a more comfortable fit.
3. Inverted or V-shaped

This butt shape has more fullness at the upper part, near your waistline, and smaller in the lower butt cheeks, creating a line between your pelvis and hips that angles inward, kind of like a V.
Also, note if the line between your pelvis and hips angles inward, your butt takes on a “V” shape from behind. It’s a common butt shape among women with broad shoulders and very narrow hips.
You’ll find underwear without high-cut leg holes such as hipsters, briefs, and boy shorts more comfortable because they provide more coverage for your butt cheeks. Your butt will look great in jeans with fuller pockets lower on the back or with fading on the bottom.
Stick with briefs, boy shorts, hipsters, or bikinis without high-cut leg holes, which won’t provide quite enough coverage for your butt cheeks. Because a V-shaped butt can make your cheeks look like they’re sagging, make sure your underwear’s leg opening cups the bottom of your buns for extra definition.
4. Heart or A-shaped

These types of butts shape widen below the hip bones. This butt shape is normal for those who have a more “pear-shaped” body.
From behind, the shape of your hips and butt cheeks gives the illusion of an inverted heart shape. You’ll find underwear with high-cut legs or larger leg holes more convenient, such as high-cut panties, tangas, or bikinis.
What influence our butt shape?
Several factors define your butt shape. Your skeletal and muscle structure plays a big part, including the:
- position of your hip bones and pelvis
- size of your gluteal muscles
- way your butt muscles attach to your thigh bones
Even genetics makeup determine the bone structure and how your body distributes fat. With ageing and hormonal changes, especially after menopause, fat distribution changes tend to affect butt shapes.
Can I change my butt shape?
Yes, you can!
Although you should not be pushed by societal perceptions or the definition of good/bad butts. You first need to know that there’s nothing wrong with your present butt shape.
If you’re happy with it, no one should make you feel like you have to change it for them to feel better. If they want a particular butt size or shape, they should change theirs. Lolz.
However, if you want to change it for you and because you want to exercise, diet or plastic surgery could make some differences.
For example, some exercises work your glute muscles and can help give you a more rounded, perky butt. These include squats, lunge presses, or leg lifts.
