Lemonades are lemon water, only that some are highly processed. Extracting the juice yourself helps you to prepare it to taste and mix with other spices if you want to.

You could get two fresh lemons that are slightly yellow as the green ones are more bitter. Cut into two and squeeze into a cup.

Dilute with water to your taste and add honey to reduce the bitterness. You could add other spices like cinnamon to help it taste bitter.

Are there downsides to taking lemon water?

Due to its acidity, lemon water can erode the enamel of your teeth making them weak. Diluting your lemon extract properly, say a half cup of lemon juice to more than a glass of water reduces this effect.

Also, limit drinking lemon juice to once or twice a day, as even a properly diluted lemon juice but with consistent drinking throughout the whole day will have the same effect.

Also, take lemon water with a straw, this reduces the access it has to your teeth while drinking. Despite this, lemon water is good for your teeth and can bleach out yellow discoloration.

Mix with baking soda to form a paste, apply on the teeth for a few minutes and brush it off. Rinse mouth with water only. Mixing with baking soda helps lock up the calcium in your teeth.
