What you do before going to bed could affect your sleep time and keep you awake at intervals. You know, quality sleep helps set the next day, makes you less grumpy.

1. Avoid any screen time at least an hour before bed. There is blue light all around us with the main source being the sun. Artificial blue light is used widely because it is very bright.
Used for TVs, smartphones and laptops. One-third of it is considered high energy. More exposure to this before bedtime keeps you alert and messes up your sleep routine. Also, any information received just before bedtime could affect your sleep.
Where else to be around this information than social media? Reading a good book before bedtime is a proper way to usher you into sleep mode. While you are much of a TV person to avoid screen time before bed, irrespective of all you watch, avoid horror movies.
2. Drinking too much water. It is important to stay hydrated but drinking too much water before bedtime will have you waking up at intervals to pee. You will not be able to get adequate sleep and this could have you tired by morning.

3. Avoid all things caffeine and other forms of stimulants before bed. Back in school, most students took coffee to be able to stay awake to study at night.

4. Still eating heavy meals or junk food before bed? Asides from the probability of having indigestion and heartburn, you could begin to gain weight. Indigestion can keep you from sleeping, make you restless and uncomfortable.
5. Avoid alcohol, energy drinks and medications that can disrupt sleep before bedtime. Alcohol can lower the levels of melatonin in your system which is a sleep-regulating hormone.
If you are thinking about skipping sleep, taking an energy drink is probably an option and it contains caffeine and other ingredients that keep you active and awake.
