“Oh my God my skin is sagging,” ever heard that sound before?

Many people want to appear youthful without going under the knife, if you are one, you might want to consider injectable cosmetic surgery.

In a bid to treat “sagging” skin, and restore one’s natural youthful looks, many individuals opt for injectable Cosmetic treatment.

Cosmetic treatment is a non-surgical treatment for feature enhancement (nose, chin, frown lines, cheeks, jawline, temple, undereye, etc.) or to ‘tighten’. It usually has to do with appearance and proportions.

It is to reduce facial wrinkles and achieve smoother-looking skin. The two main types of injectable substances used are botulinum toxin type A (which relaxes the facial muscles that cause the lines) and dermal fillers (which plump out the wrinkles).

The wrinkle-smoothing effects of most cosmetic injectables are temporary and regular treatments are needed to maintain the effect.

Cosmetic injectable treatments include BOTOX and dermal fillers. This rejuvenating procedure is not the same as having a haircut, therefore, it is highly recommended to be administered by a registered health practitioner in a licensed facility.

It is an injection and you as a patient needs to be 100 per cent sure of what you are receiving.

Adverse, life-long side effects are likely to occur even if it was administered by qualified health personnel, however, there may be a greater risk of harmful effects when injected by an unqualified person.

Many things can go wrong during the procedure, it could be the way the product is being administered, the quality of the products used, or the skill of the person administering it.

Nothing comes without risk, an expert says, if the injection goes to the wrong place particularly, the eye, it could lead to blindness as there have been reported cases. Also, if it hits a blood vessel, you can get a collection of blood called hematoma which can lead to infection.

Another expert advised that once there is a feeling of discomfort, the patient should make it a matter of urgency to visit the doctor that administered the injection. Sadly, some cases are not ‘fixable’

You wanna caught the injectable train? Consider this:

1. Take your time, do not be shy about asking questions and discussing your concerns with your health practitioner

2. Life-threatening complications can occur as a result of cosmetic injections. Think it through and inform yourself fully of the possible complications, side effects and risks of the procedure.

3. Be brutally honest about your expectations. Cosmetic treatment may improve your appearance and self-confidence, but it won’t necessarily deliver your ‘ideal’ body image or change your life.

4. Think about your financial situation.

5. You might want to take a relative or friend as a support person in cases of emergency.
