Baking soda is very effective in the removal of dark spots from the skin but using baking soda alone on your skin might be too harsh. To use it, you have to include other natural condiments to soothe its harsh nature.
How to use baking soda for skin whitening.
There are a number of ways you can whiten your skin with baking soda. Some methods include;
1. Mix two parts baking soda and one part water to form a paste. Ensure your face is clean before you apply the paste. Apply paste to the desired area and let sit for fifteen minutes. Rinse off with warm water and pat dry. Due to the abrasive nature of baking soda, you can decide to switch water with something that can help take the edge off. For example, you could try rose water or buttermilk.
2. Mix one part baking soda and two parts honey. Once the paste is ready, apply to the desired area and let it sit for twenty minutes. Wash off with warm water and pat dry. Honey has its own benefits to add to this. It lowers excess oil and makes your skin glow.
3. Mix baking soda with apple cider vinegar. Mix three tablespoons of ACV and two tablespoons of baking soda. Apply to clean face and let it sit for fifteen minutes. Rinse with warm water after and pat dry.
4. Mix baking soda and tomatoes. Mix a tablespoon of tomato juice or pulp and a tablespoon of baking soda. Tomatoes also have their own natural bleaching properties. Just like the other methods, apply to clean skin and wash off after a considerable amount of time.
5. Mix baking soda and lemon: Lemon equally has lightening properties and seems like the most favourable condiment to accompany this whitening paste. Squeeze half of a fresh lemon and mix with half a teaspoon of baking soda. Apply on the skin and let it sit for ten minutes. Wash off with warm water afterwards.
You must know that these remedies will not magically whiten your skin in a day. You should do this once a week for a considerable amount of time to see any results at all.
Also, ensure you use these remedies with caution, as baking soda can be harsh on certain skin types.
