The journey to becoming a man and wife can be a tasking one. From preparing the guest lists to the wedding china, from the wedding dresses to the bridal train, you have your work cut out for you.

Indeed, you hardly have a moment for yourself. Wouldn’t it be a great shame if all your efforts and planning go to waste?

No one wants a messy and disorganized wedding, and it is not like you can ensure everything goes as smoothly as you would like while getting hitched at the altar. Well, this is probably why you should consider having wedding ushers at your wedding.

Why You Should Hire Wedding Ushers

You are probably thinking, “Why would I hire ushers? That is an extra expense!” Well, it is an expense well spent. Moreover, in some cases, you can use younger family members of your family as ushers.

Ushers do more than say hello to guests and usher them to their tables. They are the oil that keeps the car, or event, in this case, running. Some other duties of ushers include:

  • Helping to manage the aisles and passages by holding the doors. They ensure no hang-ons or obstructions on the aisle when it is time for the bridal party’s procession. No one wants a crying baby blocking their way to the altar.
  • Ushers distribute the wedding programs so guests can know the outline of events.
  • Most Importantly, ushers can act as servers for the wedding meal. Indeed, you must have trained ushers so they know beforehand when the wedding buffet or entrees should begin.
  • Ushers can also assist with other tasks, such as answering important questions or showing guests the restroom.

Every wedding should have ushers. They are why you can sit back or dance and enjoy your day.

How Many Ushers Should You Have at Your Wedding?

Having the correct number of ushers at your wedding is essential for two reasons. For one, having too many ushers is an unnecessary expense, just making your event look cluttered. Lastly, having the right amount is pocket-friendly and ensures a flawless guest experience.

When estimating the number of ushers to hire, you should consider two factors: the size of the venue and the number of guests. Generally, depending on the wedding venue’s size, you should have more ushers.

That way, one or two of them can be placed in strategic locations of the venue. The same goes for several wedding guests.

According to the experts, the general rule when hiring ushers for a wedding is the ratio of 1:50. Basically, there should be one usher for fifty guests. However, it could also be 1-2 ushers to fifty guests so that you can decide on your preferred ratio.

Just remember, the aim of having ushers is to guide and assist guests, so you should choose a number you deem necessary.

It would help if you tried to make your wedding as stress-free as possible for yourself, and having ushers helps with that. It can be challenging to determine the exact number, but with these tips, you should know what that number should look like.
