Starting your own business is a huge step that requires a lot of time, energy, and resources. The most important factor to consider to ensure the success of your startup is having the proper funding plan in place. This is because having the needed financial backing when venturing into a new business will inevitably decide whether it will succeed.

With the proper and necessary funding, many startups can close their doors and their business before they even have a chance to get started.

One of the most important benefits of having your business funded is that it directly helps your business grow, which can be done by expanding its resources. This growth can lead to increased profits and a stronger competitive position in the marketplace.

This is why investing and finding women-led businesses is a good idea. Additionally, partnering with women-of-colour startups is an opportunity to bridge the wide gap of long-standing inequality. HerRise Micro Grant for Women of Colour Entrepreneurs aids in this aspect, and as a woman of colour needing funding for your startup, you might want to apply for this grant.

Irrespective of being one of the fastest-growing groups of entrepreneurs, Women of Color face substantial challenges when attempting to grow their businesses. Recognizing these obstacles and differences in the business world, the Yva Jourdan Foundation and its subsidiary, the nonprofit HerSuiteSpot, actively mobilizes funds and resources to support Women of Color entrepreneurs.

The organization aims to raise both funds and empower women of colour entrepreneurs by providing access to crucial elements such as coaching, community support, and essential capital. This multifaceted assistance is designed to facilitate the growth and advancement of women-led businesses, helping them overcome barriers and elevate their enterprises to the next level by allowing that each month a $1,000 micro-grant will be awarded to a small business owner.

The purpose of the organizations is to support WOC startups in initiating or expanding their businesses. The HerRise MicroGrant offers financial aid, facilitated by their corporate sponsors and donors, to Women of Color who are developing innovative solutions that positively influence their communities and often face challenges in securing funding for their small businesses. They also help these businesses acquire computers, equipment, marketing materials, and software and create websites, among other essential needs.

Who is eligible to apply for this microgrant? Businesses 51% owned by women of colour, businesses currently registered in the US, nonprofits, franchises, direct sellers, authorized resellers, or independent consultants are not eligible. There is a $10 administration fee payable during the application process.

Whether you operate a small business, lead a nonprofit organization, or are an early-stage creator, choose the grant that aligns with your goals, especially in the “dog eat dog” business world where businesses are affected by capital daily.
