Drinking tea is one good way to stay warm in the cold weather.

Some tea fans, whether black tea, peppermint tea, or the beloved boba tea, would say there is never a bad time to drink tea.

There are many variations of teas, and green tea is among the most beloved among health nuts.

Though green tea is renowned for its health benefits, most people sensitive to caffeine tend to have issues with it.

An 8-ounce green tea has about 30 to 50 milligrams of caffeine. Though this amount is relatively small compared to coffee, caffeine-sensitive people may want to abstain.

A good alternative would be decaf green tea, which contains only 2mg-4mg per cup of green tea.

Decaf Green Tea Side Effects

Green tea and decaf green tea are generally considered suitable for health, but when it is consumed more than necessary or consumed more than needed for the body, it could lead to some side effects such as;

  1. Decaf doesn’t mean no caffeine; it just means less caffeine. If you have severe caffeine sensitivity, you should avoid green tea altogether. Caffeine could induce jitteriness or nervousness in someone with a low caffeine tolerance.
  2. It could alter with any other medications you are taking, causing even more severe problems.
  3. Do not mix green tea with other herbal supplements without consulting your doctor first. Doing so can cause liver damage.
  4. Green tea isn’t harmful to pregnant women as long as you consume only a cup or two daily.
  5. Green tea with boiling water has many tannins that lead to an upset stomach.

Green tea taken in the usual proportions, 1-2 cups a day, should cause no side effects besides those mentioned above.
