Pregnancy is like the most beautiful and craziest season in a woman’s life. It is a time that comes with new experiences, and the glow of new life. It’s also a time when your body goes through lots of modifications.

Pregnancy happens when a sperm fertilizes an egg after it’s released from the ovary during ovulation.

The fertilized egg then travels down into the uterus, where implantation occurs. A successful implantation results in pregnancy.

Pregnancy is expected to last an average of 40 weeks for a full term. There are various things that can occur in a woman’s life during pregnancy and this is why early diagnosis and prenatal care are often advised in other to experience a healthy pregnant season and to deliver a healthy baby.

Having an idea of what to expect during the entire pregnancy term will help keep a healthy eye for you and the baby.

What to expect as an expectant mother

  • Weight Gain

Expect to gain up to or less than 4 pounds in your first few months of pregnancy. You will probably start to notice the added weight towards the beginning of your second trimester.

Breast changes are one of the first noticeable signs of pregnancy. Even before you’re aware of your pregnancy, your breasts may begin to feel tender, swollen, and generally heavy or full.

Insomnia can be caused by stress, physical discomfort, and hormonal changes. A balanced diet, good sleep habits, and some yoga stretches can help you get a good night’s rest.

Headaches, body pain is another thing to expect during pregnancy. Hormones and stress on the muscles are the greatest causes of back pain in early pregnancy.

Headaches are commonly experienced during the early stage of pregnancy caused by altered hormone levels, however, they relieve over time. If your headache persists you should see a doctor.

  • Cramps

Because the muscles in your uterus will begin to stretch and expand as your pregnancy grows, you may start to feel a pulling sensation that resembles menstrual cramps.

Finally, during pregnancy because of the so many emotional and physical changes, you are going through all at the same time some women literally fall into depression. Therefore you must watch out for your mental state and surround yourself with loved ones.
