Who is a Minimalist?
A minimalist is someone who loves keeping things very simple. Being a minimalist means you make decisions based on what you need instead of getting everything you want. This is regardless of how much your need might cost.
Who is a Maximalist?
A maximalist is the complete opposite of a minimalist. This is someone that likes everything extravagant and flashy, this isn’t necessarily about clutter or excess.
Which are you?
Minimalism is all about living with less. This includes fewer financial burdens such as unnecessary expenses.
Being a minimalist doesn’t mean having less, it’s more about removing the need to concentrate on material possessions that can easily become disposable to make room for things that has value and meaning to you.
This is a very modern idea and those who embrace it are looking for more space and clarity.
A minimalist lifestyle is different from everyone, it could be bright, colorful, or just neutral this depends on your personal style.
Minimalist rooms may just have basic things like furniture, few photo frames, light-colored or natural empty walls and they won’t feel uncomfortable or coarse, just ordinary.
Embracing a minimalist lifestyle is just really simple and living with less. If having several things around you is more of a distraction than comfort, then minimizing is the best.
While a Maximalist lifestyle is totally different from that of a minimalist, these groups of people are often a collector.
Rather than embracing the need for simplicity and order, maximalists are bold, exciting, and motivating. This is more about surrounding yourself with things that make you feel alive and glamorous.
A maximalist room can be dynamic and creative, with more colors, shapes, tone, and texture. It doesn’t necessarily have to be loud or overbearing, just enough to grab your attention.
If you want various things in your house to remind you of pleasant memories and bring comfort to your personal places then Maximalist is more your style.
They see their spaces as an extension of who they are. And they don’t see groups of things like clusters but rather collections of things that they love.
Are you both?
Most people fall somewhere in between minimalist or maximalist. We live in a chaotic world so maintaining a sanitary and completely clean minimalist or the extravagantness of maximalist is impossible especially if you have young children or pets at home.
Also, some people find the styles of a minimalist too barren and that of a maximalist too grand.
However, it is possible to blend these styles together and take advantage of the benefits of being a minimalist and a maximalist. All you have to do is find a balance where you can enjoy the privileges that’s comes with both lifestyles.
Do you consider yourself a minimalist or a maximalist or are you somewhat in between?
