Artemether and Lumefantrine are both present in the antimalarial medication Amatem Forte. Being an ACT (Artemisin-based Combination Therapy), it belongs to the group of medications that the WHO highly advises using to treat malaria.
For individuals who prefer not to take “hard” pills, it is an oral formulation that is offered in the shape of tablets or softgels.

Adverse effects of Amatem soft gel are;
Both children and adults tolerate the combination of artemether and lumefantrine well, with the majority of side effects having mild to moderate intensity and duration. Instead of the combination, many of the reported occurrences are probably connected to the underlying malaria and/or an inadequate response to treatment.
Some of these effects includes ; Anorexia, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, palpitations, coughing, arthralgia, myalgia, pruritus, rash, asthenia, and weariness were some of the more frequent side effects associated with the combination of Artemether and Lumefantrine.
There can also be signs of uncontrollable muscular contractions. Other side effects associated with the combination of Artemether and Lumefantrine included paraesthesia, hypoaesthesia, irregular gait, and ataxia.
There are certain potential side effects that often do not require medical treatment. During therapy, these side effects could fade away as your body gets used to the medication.
Additionally, your healthcare provider might be able to provide you with information on how to avoid or lessen some of these adverse effects. If any of the following side effects persist, are troublesome, or if you have any questions about them, speak with your doctor.
However there are some side effects which might occur for a brief moment and might not affect the body system such as:
-Feelings of “pins and needles”, “burning”, “crawling”, itching, numbness, prickling, or tingling
-continuous ringing, buzzing, or other unexplained sounds in the ears, scorching, dry, or itching eyes,
-having trouble going to the toilet
-a spinning feeling
-unsteadiness and shakiness in the gait trembling or shaking of the hands or feet uncontrolled eye movements shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
shakiness, trembling, or other issues with coordination or muscle control
-nausea or dizziness severe tearing or discharge
feeling of perpetual motion in oneself or one’s environment.

Ask your doctor if you can use Amatem Forte Tablet if you have allergies to any of its ingredients or the drug itself. Your doctor might recommend an alternative medication and add this information to your medical history.
Inform your doctor about all of your medical and health history prior to taking Amatem Forte, particularly if you have had a heart attack (myocardial ischemia), a prolonged heartbeat (QT prolongation), low blood potassium levels, or decreased heart rate (bradycardia).
How to use Amatem Soft Gel Forte
Amatem Forte Softgel should be taken exactly as directed by your doctor, usually over the course of three days, with doses spaced eight hours apart on day one and twelve hours apart on days two and three.
It is best to take the pills with food to maximize absorption. Avoid self prescription of drugs as it has harmful effects on the body.
