Today appears to be the ideal day to put my “get that man” trick to the test.
It’s my second month at my new job, and he hasn’t noticed me yet. Suffice it to say, I haven’t even tried. I became preoccupied with settling in and getting work done.
As I previously stated, I enjoy working and can easily become lost in my work without noticing anyone. You’re probably wondering, “What does she do?” I work as a business developer for I-maze, a fintech company.
I’ve been so busy working that I haven’t had time to make my move, but today seems like the perfect day to start.
I arrived at the office an hour late due to heavy traffic in Lagos. My office is on the island, and I live on the mainland side of Lagos, so getting to work can be difficult.
I received an email shortly after clocking into the office building informing me that I had arrived late and that I should report to the HR office during lunch.
I arrived at the HR department around 1 p.m. and was directed to his office. This wasn’t planned, but it appears that my operation to capture that man will finally be put to the test.
He offered me a seat, which I gratefully accepted. He just sat there staring at me for five minutes. When he finally said something, I was already wondering if something was wrong with the way I looked. Is everything fine with you? You arrived a little later than usual today.
That’s how I went on to explain everything that had happened to him, starting with how my ride had failed to arrive on time.
That’s fine miss Temitayo he said, I understand but I would also like to inform you that late coming is not acceptable here, noted that this is the first time such is happening so I would excuse it, please try to make sure it doesn’t repeat itself. Thank you for your time, you may leave my office now.
I have never felt so insulted in my whole life, not like he called me names or anything but the manner in which he spoke to me made me feel like a 3-year-old child that is being scolded and I wasn’t going to accept that from anyone but then again this man got me in my feelings in less than a minute.
Has i walked out of his office I called him all sorts of names in my head and told myself he was really ugly inside and out and isn’t worth my stress? And Then again who are mine trying to deceive.
