At some point, your social media starts changing.

One friend gets engaged.

Another is planning a wedding.

Someone has a baby.

Someone buys a house.

Someone announces a new job.

And suddenly, you look around and start wondering what exactly you are doing with your own life.

You are happy for them. Genuinely.

You attend the weddings. You buy the gifts. You comment, “Congratulations, babe!”

But somewhere between scrolling through engagement photos and trying to figure out what you’re doing next month, a small thought enters your mind.

“Am I behind?”

The truth is, many women feel this way but don’t say it.

Especially when it seems like everyone around you has reached a milestone you haven’t.

Life starts to feel like a race you didn’t agree to join

Nobody officially tells you that by a certain age you should be married, have children, own a home or know exactly what you want from life.

But somehow, the pressure is there.

Sometimes it comes from family.

Sometimes from culture.

Sometimes from social media.

And sometimes, it comes from watching your friends move into a completely different stage of life while you are still trying to understand your own.

You might be changing careers.

Trying to save money.

Recovering from a breakup.

Living abroad and starting again.

Or simply taking your time.

But when everyone around you seems to be moving forward, standing still can feel uncomfortable.

But you are only seeing one part of their story

The wedding photos don’t show every disagreement.

The new house doesn’t show the mortgage stress.

The pregnancy announcement doesn’t show the difficult journey it may have taken to get there.

The successful career doesn’t show the anxiety behind it.

Everyone has a life that looks simpler from the outside.

Including yours.

And the truth is, getting married is not proof that someone has figured life out.

Having a baby doesn’t mean someone is happier.

Buying a house doesn’t mean they have no problems.

These are milestones, not finish lines.

Your life is allowed to take a different route

Maybe your friend found love at 24.

Maybe you will find it at 36.

Maybe someone knew exactly what career they wanted at 21.

Maybe you’re still figuring yours out at 32.

That doesn’t mean you failed.

It just means your life didn’t follow somebody else’s timeline.

And perhaps that’s the hardest thing to accept.

You can be happy for your friends and still want more for yourself.

You can celebrate their happiness while quietly hoping your own moment comes too.

Both things can be true.

So the next time you find yourself asking, “When will it be my turn?”, remember this:

Your life is still happening.

Even if it doesn’t currently look like everyone else’s.

And maybe you are not behind.

Maybe you’re simply on a road that doesn’t look familiar yet.
