Lochia is a normal discharge of blood and mucus from the uterus after childbearing, also referred as postpartum bleeding. It began right after delivery and can last for four to six weeks afterward, with the heaviest flow occurring in the first 10 to 14 days after delivery. A few women often experience a shorter period of discharge, while others may experience lochia for 6 weeks.
