Cosmetic surgery has received much attention in recent years. From laser surgeries to liposuction, aesthetic surgery has seen a major surge amongst normal folks, unlike back in the day when it was mostly frequent amongst A-listers or celebrities.

Of all cosmetic procedures, Liposuction seems to be the most stated case when it comes to cosmetic surgery. It is understandable. After all, everyone wants fat removed from a part of their body or more ampleness in certain areas.

If you would like to have a liposuction, you must know that liposuction can only be done by a medical practitioner and no one else. There are many complexities associated with liposuction, and only a certified aesthetic surgeon can ensure the safety of your life and health during and after the surgery.

Understanding Liposuction

Is it your first time getting a liposuction? Then, it is best that you know what you are getting into. Understanding liposuction will let you know what to expect and how to handle certain issues that may arise.

Now, what exactly is liposuction? This is a cosmetic procedure that involves the removal of excess fat with suction. Though the procedure is done under anaesthesia (there will be no pain during the procedure), the healing process can be a very painful one.

Generally, there are many risks associated with liposuction. It is considered the best way to get rid of fat, but if done by a board-certified cosmetic doctor, there should be no problems.

The complications associated with liposuction recovery include;

  1. Tightness and stiffness in the operated area
  2. Bruising
  3. Swelling
  4. Skin Firmness
  5. Lack of sensitivity
  6. Itchy skin
  7. Shiny skin
  8. Burning or shooting pain.

Most of these symptoms tend to die off after the surgery, but the burns may last a month or two and can be quite difficult to deal with. A few remedies you could try for the burns include;

How to stop burning sensation after liposuction

Burning sensation or pain after surgery is completely normal. It just means that your skin, tissues and nerves are trying to heal after your operation.

To stop or manage the burning sensation, ensure you follow the instructions of your doctor. Your post-op instructions should help you relieve the burn or pain. Your post-op should include pain medications with prescribed dosages to manage the pain.

Hydrating the skin also helps with the burning sensation as well. Try gently massaging the skin to relieve and desensitize it. Using Cocobutter or a cool moisturizer while massaging should give you a cooling feeling, but this is only a temporary remedy.

If the burning sensation does not reduce over time, that could be a sign of serious development and will require a visit to the clinic.

Liposuction is not for everyone. It is a procedure riddled with risk factors both during and after the procedure. Before getting a liposuction, you must speak to a medical practitioner to determine if a liposuction procedure is safe for you.
