Shaving can be a hassle for most women. While some women have it easy using only a razor and some coconut oil, a percentage of women have the worst time dealing with the bumps, hyperpigmentation and in-grown hairs that will be a definite result after using that same razor.

 Though these women may have tried their best, watching all the YouTube and TikTok videos on the best ways to shave their privates and learning ways to take care of their privates after shaving (after-shave routines), nothing seems to be working, and I am here to tell you that it is through no fault of yours.

You either have susceptible skin, or your skin is not responding well to razors. While some women can cover up these problems with long-sleeved clothes or shawls, women with Hirsutism or PCOS with symptoms of facial hair have to live with these unwanted features (bumps and hyperpigmentation).

Fortunately, due to skincare advancements, there may be ways to fight against these issues. This article cannot guarantee a solution to any of these problems, but it will contain suggestions for you to try out, and hopefully, it may work out.

Best shaving creams for sensitive skin women

There are several delicious shaving creams out there, and most of them tend to get the job done, but the problem with these depilatory creams is the darkening or hyperpigmentation they may leave behind.

These creams listed below were chosen due to many reviews from other women, but you must remember that everyone is different, and what works for one person may not work for another. Still, it never hurts to try;

  1. Magic Shaving Cream and Powder: Many reviews favour the powder over the cream. It has three variants, one entirely suited for sensitive skin. Many women have reviewed that their hair, including facial hair, grew back patchy or less after shaving rounds with this product. You can find this product in most cosmetic shops in local markets, such as Shoprite, Spar, Jumia, Konga, and Prince Ebeano supermarkets in Nigeria.
  2. Bikini Zone Hair Removal Treatment: Most people may opt for Brazilian or Bikini waxes when it comes to their privates, and while you can embrace or withstand the excruciating pain of the process, there is nothing worse than going through that pain only to see ingrown hairs or bumps and that is where Bikini zone comes in. All you have to do is put this on for the recommended time (as advised on the pamphlet) and wash it off afterwards for precise and smooth skin. You can find this product in select supermarkets in Nigeria, Jumia and Konga.

Many other shaving creams could be on that list, but they will not be included due to the difficulty of finding them. Most of these creams are not widely sold in Nigeria, but the two mentioned above, especially Magic, can be found.

You must realize that these two creams were mentioned not just because of their availability but because of their effectiveness as well. Refrain from trying to replace these creams with widely circulated products like Veets. Veet might work for your friend, but it may not work for you.

You can only replace them after advice from a dermatologist or if the products give you less than desired results. If these recommendations cause even more harm, then it may be time to consider other forms of hair removal, such as Laser Hair Removal and Electrolysis.

Dealing with excessive hair growth, especially as a woman, can be depressing and, in some ways, embarrassing, but you must realize that having hair is part of being human.

Admittedly, excessive hair growth may not be what you bargained for, but there are so many ways you can choose to deal with it. Ensure that whatever path you decide to take, you take it with the recommendations of a health care provider, dermatologist, or esthetician.
