Are You Kissing The Right Person?

Love requires trust and some level of intimacy as determined by the parties involved. As one might expect, love fills you with intense, overwhelmingly happy emotions. And we tend to swing in with a show of some intimacy, which can manifest in different forms; such a first kiss, hugging, sexual intercourse etc. 

Being intimate with someone in a relationship is a feeling of being close and emotionally connected and supported.

It means being able to share a whole range of thoughts, feelings and experiences that we have as human beings.

It involves being open and talking through your thoughts and emotions, being vulnerable, and showing someone else how you feel and what your hopes and dreams are. 

Being sexually intimate with someone is most cases might not be planned, it just happened.

Though, sexual intimacy is something that should be planned for. As trust is required in a relationship so is trust required in sexual intimacy.

Do you trust your partner’s sexual health? Do you trust his sexual health because you both take medical precautions and or because you love him so much?

 Do not forget that this goes both ways as ‘what is good for the goose is also good for the gander. Are you selfish with your sexual health or do you get consumed in passion believing your partner is fine?

After all, neither of you are exhibiting symptoms of Sexually Transmitted Diseases. (STD)

In some individuals, certain sexually transmitted diseases are asymptomatic, i.e. they do not show any symptoms, and they might not know they are carrying a disease.

It is always advisable for people dating to be open about their sexual health status. 

kissing is a form of intimacy that can occur so easily and unplanned, but are you aware that certain sexually transmitted diseases can be transferred by kissing, an example is the herpes virus which can be contracted via kissing or oral sex with an infected partner.

Herpes can only be passed through the skin to skin contact with the infected area even when there are no symptoms. So, imagine kissing someone who gave an infected person a blowjob, oops!!!

Now, this is not to say that you cannot live a healthy life and have an amazing sexual relationship with your partner if you are living with herpes. 

It can be managed with antiviral drugs and a healthy lifestyle. Communication is key in every relationship. We must all direct the same energy in communicating our sexual health status with our partners.

There is nothing wrong with being caught in emotions, one thing you should always take as priority is your health and that of your partner(s).
