Usually, makeup brushes come in various sets. You can find makeup brush palettes of three, thirty-two, and even more brushes.
For a beginner, having too many brushes can be overwhelming. Though these brushes have their uses, it is optional to have them all.

For example, in a makeup brush palette of thirty-two brushes, you will find;
1. Eyelash Brush: Remove excess eye makeup or mascara buildup.
2. Eye shadow Sponge: Used to pick up, apply and blend eye shadow. It may be three or two in a makeup set with varying sizes of sponges.
3. Eyeliner Brush: Used to draw specific eye lines or shapes on the eye.
4. Lip Brush: Used to apply lip gloss or lipstick on the lips.
5. Small Concealer Brush: Used for covering up acne, applying makeup in hard-to-reach places, and covering up under-eye bags.
6. Large Concealer brush: Mostly used to blend in the concealer.
7. Small Eye shadow Brush: This works the same as an eye shadow sponge.
8. Large Eye shadow brush: This is used to make swift dustings of eye shadow along your lids; you can also use it to make a light dusting of highlighter underneath your brows.
9. Crease brush: Used to apply eye shadow to the crease of your eye.
10. Round shadow brush: Used for blending different colors of eye shadow
11. Small angled Contour Brush: This is used to contour (minimize) your forehead, chin, and other areas you want to contour.
12. Large-angled contour brush: This does the same as the previous brush.
13. Small Fan brush: Used for applying highlighter or bronzer.
14. Large Fan Brush: This can be used to apply highlighter, sweep off excess powder from your face, blend out harsh lines, and apply highlighter to your body
15. Foundation Brush: Used to apply foundation to your face.
16. Angled powder brush: This is used to get more precise powder shading along areas you may have highlighted or contoured
17. Lash brows: This is used to keep your brows in place, to de-clump your lashes, and to erase harsh pencil lines.
18. Stippling Brushes: This swirls and stipples your liquid makeup products across your skin, giving you full and even coverage.
19. Flat Definer brush: This applies to every liner or drawing of specific shapes on eyebrows or liner wings.
20. Bronzer Brush: This is used to apply bronzer to the skin.
21. Blush Brush: As the name implies, it is used to apply blush.
Within a makeup brush set, you may find that a few brushes are repeated in varying sizes, making up to thirty-two brushes or more.
You do not need up to thirty-two brushes to do your makeup. It is acceptable for a professional or stage makeup artiste to have their collection of brushes, as many as they would like, but you only need the basics to do your face makeup. You can read up on the basics on the attached link.
