Have you ever wondered if your favorite red-bottomed heels harm your physical health? Silly, right? Why would shoes affect your health negatively? They are just heels. Well, you may have to think again.

Detrimental effects of heels on our legs
  1. According to Dr. Jensen of Banner Health, heels change more than your walking steps. They exert a lot of stress on your knees, back, and hips. Therefore, you should only wear them sometimes.
  2. High heels can cause many foot problems; they change how your foot looks.
  3. You must have noticed that your posture changes when you wear high heels. Though the change in posture is taken as sexy and confident, the truth is that your body is fighting for balance. This fight for balance gets worse as the inches of your heels increase. Therefore, it makes your posture even more unnatural than usual.
  4. Your toes are also included. You could get something called hammertoe when your toes are forced to fit into the tiny toe box of high heels. Hammertoe occurs when your toes are in an abnormal or uncomfortable space for too long.

This is simply the tip of the iceberg. High heels cause several issues to your posture, gait, balance, hips, knees, ankles, and spine. You could get bunions or neuromas when you wear high heels often.

Advantages of High Heels

High heels’ advantages depend on the heel type or the heels’ inches. This is why you should avoid wearing heels too high for you. Apart from making you confident and sexy, there are other benefits to heels;

  1. You can improve your posture with the suitable inches since it forces you to stand straighter.
  2. It strengthens the muscles of your ankles and calves. You may find that your calves become toned over time.

As you can see, heels are not all bad, but they should be worn cautiously. If you do choose to wear them, ensure that.

  • Not to wear them so often. Wear them only when deemed necessary.
  • Always balance your weight and the inches of your heels by choosing a comfortable heel and wearing the correct posture.
  • Take off your heels occasionally to stretch your feet, ankles, and toes. This prevents ailments like hammertoe and bunions.
  • If the journey on your heels is too long or arduous, you can wear comfortable flats or sandals first; when you get to your destination, you can change into your high heels.

This news may be sad to hear, but it is best to be in the know. You can still wear your heels, but now you know you are the issues that could occur.

Girls wear your heels wisely. If worn carelessly, those Louboutin heels can cause arthritis in your later years. Always wear heels that make you feel balanced and comfortable.
