What are fake eyelashes?
Artificial lashes or false lashes are made to draw attention to your eyes. A temporary glue affixes them to your eyelid just above your natural lashes.
Like eyelash extensions, often applied by a professional, eyelash extensions are bonded directly to your natural lashes using a stronger glue.

SHOULD I APPLY MASCARA BEFORE OR AFTER FAKE LASHES?
In general, you should use mascara before applying false eyelashes if you plan to wear them. That way, especially if you’re only wearing a half lash, your natural lashes will mix better with the false ones.
Strip lashes can stick to natural lashes more effectively and last longer if mascara is applied beforehand. You might also put mascara on top of your false lash strips, but you should know that this might make them more challenging to take off and clean after use.
How to apply mascara before false eyelashes.
Apply mascara:
- Coat the fake lashes with a light layer of mascara.
- Start at the lash’s root and slowly move the wand up to the tips.
- Avoid overdoing it since too much mascara can make the lashes appear clumpy.
Let It Dry: Give the mascara a few seconds to dry. It’s imperative to wait for it to dry completely before adding more coats.
Optional Second Coat: Apply the second coat after the first one has dried if you think it’s required. Check that the mascara is completely dry before continuing.
Blend with Natural Lashes: You can lightly coat your natural lashes in mascara and gently press the false lashes on them to create a seamless look.
Don’t combine waterproof mascara and fake lashes.
Stay away from waterproof mascara.
Your false eyelashes’ glue may become less stable due to the components in waterproof mascara that make it waterproof.
You face the danger of having your eyelashes fall out earlier than expected. Later, the same elements will make it much more challenging to clean your artificial lashes, putting a lot of wear and tear on them and maybe destroying them.
Your artificial lashes will ultimately not last as long as they should because of this.
Can fake eyelashes ruin your natural eyelashes?
There is a danger that your natural lashes will get hurt during the process, even if a skilled lash artist applies your lash extensions.
Your eyelashes also develop away from the root, much like the hair on your head does. The weight of the extension may exert pressure on the natural lash as it grows farther away from the extension’s root. The weight of the extension can be too much for the natural lash to support, which could lead to breaking.
It’s important to remember that not all false eyelashes work with mascara. Mascara could destroy or harm false lashes made of synthetic materials. Additionally, some fake lashes already have the appearance of mascara applied.
Therefore, it might not be required or preferable to use more mascara. Always read the manufacturer’s directions before applying mascara to your artificial eyelashes.
