In a world where we are mostly defined by what we do or don’t do, by what we buy or don’t buy, by the color of our skin or the color of our hair, we as individuals must find ways to constantly pull through reminding ourselves that we are more than the labels the world puts on us.
We can thrive above all the stormy sea they throw us in, that we can deal as sparingly as possible with everything they thrust at us.
In order to do all of these, I believe there are some questions we must constantly ask ourselves and most assuredly answer from time to time weighing or judging ourselves against ourselves so that we are constantly improving and better than the last version of ourselves.
- who am I outside of the role I play?
- what habits or behavior must I do away with or imbibe for the future me to emerge?
- what are my long-term goals?
Are they still the same as the last time or have they changed?
If yes, why?
- what were my short-term goals?
Did I accomplish them?
Do I need to let go?
If yes, why?
- what direction will my life go if I continue to do the things I’m doing right now?
- what should I be doing with my life right now
- what are my weaknesses?
Are they helping me or slowing me down?
How can I build on my weaknesses?
- what is my strength?
In addition
Am I over-utilizing them or underutilizing them?
Being able to answer all these questions will help you stay true to who you truly are as a person, don’t mold yourself in the image of what others think, and in the process forget how to be you.
Staying true to yourself in the world of untrue people can be hard but discovering yourself, your value, and what you stand for will help you live and love yourself and you also get to experience the vibrancy of life.
