How to Make a Face Mask for Acne

Acne is one of the significant skin ailments plaguing humans. Over time, people have found a way to remedy this problem. Alongside exfoliants, masks are used in various routines to assuage this issue. 

It is important to note that these recipes are only effective for minor acne. As such, severe acne needs to be taken to a licensed professional.

How to Make a Face Mask for Acne

Below are a face masks recipes you can create at home:

1. Turmeric facial mask

Mix ½ cup of chickpea flour and two teaspoons of turmeric powder almond oil with water to make a paste for a facial mask. Apply and leave on for 5-10 minutes, then rinse off with cold water.

  • A second combination is Aloe Vera and Turmeric.

Aloe vera and turmeric have anti-inflammatory properties; mixing them will have beautiful effects on your skin. Blend aloe vera and get a tablespoon mixed with ½ teaspoon of turmeric. Apply and leave to set for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off with water. 

  • Turmeric can also be mixed with honey to form another variant of the turmeric mask. 

Mix 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric and a tablespoon of honey into a paste and apply to your face or the affected areas. Leave on for 10–15 minutes and then wash off with water.

The mixture can do wonders for your skin due to its combined materials, such as antioxidants, antibacterial, and antimicrobial. Apply two to three times a week.

2. Cucumber face mask

Cucumbers are wonderful for reducing inflammation and hydrating the skin.

Blend or mash a small cucumber mix with a cup of oatmeal and a teaspoon of yoghurt until it turns into a paste. Apply on the intended area and leave on for 30 minutes before rinsing off with water.

  • But the only ingredient in this recipe you have is cucumber. In that case, you can mash/blend one cucumber, drain the water and mix it with a tablespoon of sugar to form a paste. Then apply and leave for 10 minutes before washing off with cold water.

3: Honey mask

Honey is an excellent partner and can also be a standalone material for a mask. Its antibacterial and healing properties can be a superb mask for you. Rinse your face with warm water and apply honey to the intended area. Leave on for 30 minutes, then wash off with warm water.

  • Another honey mask is one with lemon. You need a tablespoon of honey and ½ teaspoon of diluted lemon juice. Mix both into a paste and spread on the skin, leaving on for 15 minutes before washing off. 

4: Yogurt mask for oily skin

The yoghurt mask for oily skin can be a beneficial addition to your skincare routine. While still undergoing research, yoghurt, being a probiotic, is believed to have properties that inhibit the growth of bacteria.

This mask is particularly suitable for individuals with oily skin. To create your mask, you need a teaspoon of yeast, with a small quantity of plain yoghurt, to be made into a paste. Apply to the skin and leave on for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off with cold water. 

5. Oatmeal and Honey Face Mask

To make your mask, get a tablespoon of powdered oats, two tablespoons of honey, and a tablespoon of water, and mix. Apply on your skin and leave on for 15-20 minutes, then wash off with warm water. 

  • Oatmeal can also be used without the above. 2 teaspoons of oatmeal can be mixed with one teaspoon of baking soda and water to form a paste. Apply paste on the skin and leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing it with water.
