Nizoral shampoo is an anti-fungal medication formulated for the treatment of various fungal infections of the skin. It can help get rid of; an athlete’s foot, ringworm, seborrhea, which causes dry and flaky skin, jock itch and many more.

It may even help with anti-fungal acne. It is formulated with 2% ketoconazole and can be used to treat dandruff.

There are two types of Nizoral shampoo in the market: generic and over-the-counter. Nizoral is available as a cream, gel, and shampoo. 

How to use Nizoral Shampoo 

Nizoral shampoo is easy to use. Apply the shampoo to damp skin or the affected area. Lather the area properly with your hands and leave it in place for about five minutes. After which, rinse off properly with water.

You are using the shampoo once a day should do. However, if a doctor prescribes the shampoo, ensure you follow the dosage. You should see apparent results or an improvement within the first usage or two weeks after.

  3. Altered hair texture (if used on your hair) 
  4. Hives

  1. Before using Nizoral, it is best to seek a doctor’s advice. Nizoral could react with any other topical drug you may be using. Inform your doctor of all topical drugs and creams to prevent further complications.
  2. Pregnant women should not use Nizoral except if prescribed by a doctor. Nizoral may be harmful to the fetus. 
  3. It is claimed that this drug is capable of infusing into breast milk to harm a nursing baby. Therefore, you must consult your doctor if you plan to be pregnant while on Nizoral.

The price of Nizoral varies depending on the market platform. The average selling price for Nizoral shampoo is 15,000- 25,000 naira. It can be found in various pharmacies and online shopping platforms in Nigeria.
