    In the winter or fall season, wearing just a dress to a wedding is nearly impossible. Indeed, you would not want to freeze to death. However, covering up your beautiful outfit with a sweater or a cardigan cannot be enjoyable.

    While it may flatter some wearers, some dresses should not be worn with them. Fortunately, there are other options for you to rock your dress in style still;

    What to wear over a dress to a wedding:

    1. A Faux Fur Shawl: This can only work if the shawl compliments your outfit, but doesn’t it scream classy? Plus, this will give your outfit an extra point on the fashion scale. Just picture it.
    2. A leather Jacket may be unorthodox for a wedding, but it all depends on the kind of wedding. It is not advisable for a formal or traditional wedding. If the wedding is more laid back or casual, then, by all means, knock yourself out.
    3. A Fur Jacket: It is beautiful, trendy, and keeps the chill at bay. Accessorize it with the right outfit and color, and you are good to go.
    4. A Cashmere Shawl or wrap: This is perfect even in the summer. If you are wearing a sleeveless dress and uncomfortable with your arms on display or just slightly chilly, having a shawl would be best.
    5. A denim Jacket: This also strays away from the traditional route. It is doable but not advisable for formal weddings. However, you could get away with it if it is a garden or country-themed wedding.
    6. A Blazer: This is an obvious choice for most ladies. Most outfits come with a blazer so that you can throw it on. Ensure the blazer matches the color of your dress, and you can always add a brooch as an accessory.
    7. A Trench Coat: This is one of your best options when winter rolls in. Not only is it fashionable, but it is also functional. It is insulating and can amplify your outfit. Another great option would be a wool coat. However, the trench coat would be a better option if the weather is freezing.
    8. A Pashmina: This is similar to a scarf or a shawl. It is a light wrap you can place on your shoulders to ward off the spring, fall, or summer chill. (it may not be effective in the winter). It is chic and can be worn anywhere. You can go right with casual or formal weddings with a pashmina.
    9. A Kimono Jacket: Most Kimono jackets come as a matching set; it could be with pants or a dress. They are usually very colorful, and the jacket can ward off chill in the spring or summer, but they will not do much for the winter season.

    Ensure you pair the right cover-up to the right occasion. Jean and leather jackets are okay for a casual wedding but cannot be worn to formal events. It would help if you remembered to match the proper cover-up or jacket to the right attire.
