Is there a maximum weight for high heels? This is an interesting question. As you know, many heels are uncomfortable and leave you fighting for balance. Is it possible that people of a particular size cannot wear them to avoid toppling down?
Well, the answer is no. High heels do not discriminate based on size. If they did, it would most likely be a Fashion violation (That is if a Fashion violation did exist)
However, choosing the heels you feel most comfortable in would be best for your safety and comfort. There are different types of high heels to choose from. There is;
- Platform heels
- Wedge Heels and
- Stiletto heels
Of the three, Platform heels are the most balanced. An excellent example of platform heels would be the cartoon Character Courtney on Total Drama Island. Looking at the broad heel base, you can tell that it gives more balance and support to the wearer.
Wedges also offer similar support. Just like platform heels, they distribute the wearer’s weight in an even fashion along the foot. These two options are more stable than stiletto and would be perfect for people wearing heels for the first time or prefer to be comfortable.
An excellent example of a stiletto heel would be Miss Sara Bellum of the Power Puff Girls cartoon. Stiletto heels have a more pointed end. Walking on sticks is quite apt when thinking of stilettos.
It requires more balanced work and is more comfortable than the other two. Stilettos may not hold your weight, and if you wear them for a long time, you may have stress-related injuries. If you are curious, you should probably read “Are high heels bad for you.”
While the heel type also matters, you could also consider going for heels with shorter inches. No matter your weight, you should be able to wear heels of two inches and below. With lower heels, you can weigh more than 350 pounds and still wear your heels comfortably.
Things to note when wearing heels
Thin as a pencil or not, these tips apply to anyone;
- Always go for heels that provide the most comfort. If you are uncomfortable on your heels, you could cause severe damage to your feet. If you are unbalanced, you can ruin your posture and cause damage to your spine.
- If you wear high heels, ensure it is something other than what you do daily. If it cannot be avoided, do not keep them on throughout transit or all day. You could wear flats till you get to your destination.
- Your posture matters in heels. Always keep your knees slightly bent; your back should be straight, your shoulders should go back, and your chin should be up. This posture ensures balance on your heels but ruins your body’s neutral posture. This is why you should try not to wear heels all day.
Weight has nothing to do with heels. Anyone can wear them, but you must do so with caution.
